Eshu are he culmination of years of African
dreams about Nomads. Originally cheerful fae who ran with the cheetah and
played with the antelope, years of changing opinions about those who wander
the plains have seen them changed into warrior fae that protect those who
travel, especially traders, and then into scoundrels who have no respect
whatsoever for those who choose not to wander. Today, they are a little
of all of those. |
Eshu see themselves as travelers on paths
that they, in particular are meant to walk. Anyone who refuses to follow
the path is denying their own reality, and the Eshu are not terribly impressed.
They believe that their path will lead them to see what they need to see
and be in the places they need to be, and they are often right. These Fae
have a talent for being in the right place at the right time, and their
belief that they cannot die until they are fated to gives them a bravery
that goes well beyond that of most Fae, especially in the face of uninspiring
odds. |
The main weakness of the Eshu is their pride.
They have a strong sense of their own worth, and it is easy to annoy or
even enrage an Eshu by ruining her entrance or exit, or by causing one
of their cons to end in a thud rather than the spectacular fireworks that
were meant to ensue. They feel no need to follow the spirit of agreements
that they weren't meaning to hold to when they made them, but if you can
get and Eshu's freely given word on something they find important, you
have a valuable bond. |
The Eshu view the whole world as a magnificent
story, and they, of course, are the main players. They may play the dastardly
villain or the magnificent hero, but they will play their part to the hilt,
and many another Fae has regretted forgetting that this is not play for
the Eshu. It is their reality. |
